Skagway Car Rental to Yukon and looking for good hiking

My husband and I will be sailing May 25 on RCL and have reserved a car for Skagway as we wanted to drive to see Emerald Lake without the pricey tours. We are early 30s and really enjoy day hikes and we are wondering if anyone could recommend any great places to stop and catch a trail either after Emerald Lake or on the way back, close by etc.

 

Also if any other suggestions for must see pit stops would be welcomed too

Do a quick Google search on Carcross, there's a few trails there. My coworker rented bikes there and enjoyed a few nice single track trails that are in great shape.

The hardcopy of Milepost is much more detailed. If you library has it, make a copy of the pages you need.

Does anyone know if it is possible to rent kayaks or a canoe at Emerald Lake? We are getting a rental car and driving up there as well, the beginning of August.
