marybeshaw Posted May 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2018 We are headed to Alaska in a week! Last week we changed one person’s excursion from a $200 excursion to a $100 excursion. We expected to be refunded the money, but apparently it went into our OBC instead. Maybe because we paid for part of the excursions with OBC? So my question is: is this returned $100 OBC refundable, or should we spend it all on the cruise ship? Thanks in advance. Mary
skynight Posted May 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2018 My thought is that if it was non-refundable before it will still be non-refundable. Likewise for refundable. Refundable or Nonrefundable is shown in your on board account(s). The type also shows in the cruise personlizer. In any case it is very easy to spend $100 on board, beverages, casino, shops, photos. You will be charged at least $94.50/pp for the automatic gratuities more if you are in a mini or full suite. Just a point you don't specifically spend OBC. OBC is just a credit posted to your on board account(s). Any on board expense nets against it, using non-refundable first then refundable. When on board print out your folio(s) and you will see how it works. Any remaining refundable OBC is returned to you by check, $25 or under you can get cash at passenger services. Non-refundable is use it or lose it.
marybeshaw Posted May 26, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted May 26, 2018 Thanks for that very thorough answer! Gratuities are included with our promotional fare (three for free), and I will have no trouble spending that extra $100!
