Rhapsody questions

Recommended Posts

I have a million, but I'm trying to spread them out.

We have a family ocean view room on the fourth deck, will we have a refrigerator? Has anyone stayed in one of these? Rooms were limited since we just purchased our sailing 21 days in advance.

Will it be crazy being under the casino?

Can I bring liquor onboard.....just kidding,

Is there a basketball court?

This is our third cruise and we stick to smaller ships, I'm afraid of those big ones. Anyway, we've been on EOS and the Norwegian Sea...I was really sick on the sea and nothing on the EOS, how do you think this ship will compare?

What's my best way to get 10 people from Hobby to peir?

Thanks guys, you're all so helpful.

1.) No fridge, I don't think, on such staterooms on the Rhapsody. Someone else can confirm.

2.) RCI ships are pretty soundproofed; I've been right above the anchor or showroom, or right below the pool or right next to elevators, and have hardly heard a thing. Don't think the clink clank of the casino will keep you up.

3.) I know you were kidding, but yes, you can easily bring liquor (bubble wrapped, please!) in your checked baggage. Is it allowed? No. Will you be penalized, will it be confiscated, etc? No.

4.) No basketball court that I remember. There is a sort of tacked on rock wall.

5.) RCI ships seem to have good stabilizers, so you won't likely be sick. Of course weather conditions on any given day or cruise can change that. But I've been on the Rhapsody 4 times and I was only ill one week. That time, I was in the front of the ship, in a sideways cabin, which really seemed to do a number on me. Bring a little Bonine, just in case.

6.) Galveston Limo will be far cheaper to haul 10 people from Hobby to the pier than RCI's transfers, and a lot less hassle. They will also pick you up at a specified time after your cruise. It may be a limo, it may be a large van or bus (I've had all 3 with them!) but they will get you there the cheapest.

The Rhapsody really is a special little ship. The crew and passengers are EXTRA friendly!

I'm pretty sure there are no fridges in the oceanview rooms on Rhapsody.

No basketball court on Rhapsody.

When you say EOS, do you mean Enchantment of the Seas? If so, the ride should be similar as they are in the same class. You could still hit really rough seas though and feel sea sickness.

Rhapsody is a great ship though. Really friendly. Great service, wonderful food.

You might try Galveston Limo. It's really a shuttle service with set hours.

I can answer a few of those questions.

We have had that family room before. Yes, a fridge is there. Two rooms, one with king (or separated into singles). Other room has bunk beds for two. Very quiet. Casino is no problem.....well...other than taking your money.

You can "sneek" a few bottles of hootch in your check in bags. Nobody ever checks.

No basketball that I am aware of.

Just the right size ship. You will feel some motion in high seas, but quite pleasant.

I just happen to think the Rhapsody is the best ship on the ocean. Perfect size, medium size passenger load, and friendliest crew.

You will have a ball.

If you think you might get seasick, go to a health food store (GNC) and get you some Ginger Root capsules. I used them the last cruise and had no problems.

I have been ill on Rhapsody one day out of 3 cruises and that was because the Gulf was pretty wild. There were a lot of crew sick also.

You will love Rhapsody as many of us do...

Rhapsody is a lot bigger than the Empress, so you should feel less movement. Now, that being said. We had really rough seas, and I mean really rough seas our first day at sea 2 weeks ago and we really felt the movement. BUT, we were on the 8th floor at the very front of the ship (the absolute worst place to be on the ship if you are prone to sea sickness). I also talked to people who were on Mariner of the Seas that week and the very same they had really rough seas coming out of Port Canaveral and really felt it so I don't think it matters which port you sail out of.
