VolzCruiser Posted August 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2018 I am thinking of taking different cooler than my normal cruise cooler which is too big by 2 inches on length. Has anyone ever had security measure their cooler?
maryred Posted August 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Our normal (soft-side) cooler is taller by 3 inches than what is allowed, but until on board it is collapsed and packed in our checked luggage.
Shaded Lady Posted August 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Mine is a bit bigger than the standard size (2 inches wider, 2 inches taller)... and while it is a softsider and can collapse, the plastic liner inside it can't so I never bother (driving to port, not flying so it's not a big deal). So far no one has ever measured it or objected in any way. I think as long as you're close to the right size they don't object- it's the bigger hardsider 'party at the beach' coolers they don't want onboard. DaytonCruiser Posted August 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2018 It really depends on the port and the person at the X-ray station. Some can get on a power trip. I know in the past Galveston was really strict on cooler size, because people were abusing it and coming to port with them already filled with ice. More than likely you won’t have an issue, but I just always use the collapsible type to avoid any potential problems Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
