Loving your review so far ... love the detail and the pics. Looking forward to boarding the Getaway in October for the first time. Your review gives a great overview of the cruise for someone that has not been on this particular ship before. Thank you ... and looking forward to reading more :)

Thanks for the kind words! You are going to have an amazing time.

We are on her in three weeks for our second time. Thanks for the refresher.

You're welcome. Enjoy your cruise :)

It is really nice to read a review from someone who had a bad cruise on one ship but did not let it ruin the whole cruise line ....

And I'm glad I didn't. This was such a great cruise would hate to have missed out because of the Epic. Carnival is still my preferred line but I really enjoyed myself and hope to cruise NCL again.

Looking forward to hearing more. Doing this cruise in October. Can't wait!

Have a great trip! I hope time does not slow down like it tends to do to me counting down to a cruise lol.

Great review. Can't wait to read the rest.

Thank you!

We have got that attitude from them both times we have sailed from Miami. They usually change their tone quick when I tip them.

I wish it didn't have to be that way. A waiter could never get that kind of attitude and expect to keep their job. But it is what it is I guess.

Read a couple of your reviews a while back, and now finally figured out how to find all of them, so have been barreling through all of them. Really enjoying following. I think you do a great job of noting the negatives but moving on.

I felt for you when you got caught speeding, but sounds like the officer was very generous.

Enjoy.

He was definitely fair and you can bet that every time I pass by mile marker 260 I make sure I slow down lol! It was an expense I didn't need but a lesson I guess I did need.

Its a shame the pictures are gone on those early reviews, photobucket really sucks to change their business model the way they did. I still have those pictures on my computer and hope to one day transfer them and the reviews to a blog of some sort.

We will be sailing on the Getaway in 8 days. This will be our second sailing on her. Enjoy reading your review, while waiting ! Thanks

Hope this week flies by for you! Have a great trip!!

Taking this cruise in October. Loving your review!

Thank you! Enjoy your cruise.

FYI the Epic is seven percent larger than the Getaway and holds three percent more passengers.

I stand corrected. That really surprises me and that was not the perception on board the ship. Epic felt way way more crowded and perceptions aside, there was literally nothing not on standby after the second day other than the MDRs. I hope that Epic was the anomaly and not the Getaway because I do not care to cruise on a ship that feels that crowded again.

Tour:

Deck plans are nice for preparing for your cruise, but I love a visual to go along with a deck plan so let's take a photo tour of the Getaway.

Decks 1-4 are crew areas. Deck 5 is all cabins.

Climbing the stairs up to deck 6.

Starting at the front of Deck 6 is the Illusionarium where they held the dinner theater show Cirque Dreams & Steam.

They had a separate room for the card room and library, which was a great idea except the library still got a lot of noise from the atrium and was located directly below some basketball game in O'Sheehans. Lots of thud thud thud from the arcade game above.

All the elevator areas have maps to help you find your way around the ship.

Moving up to Deck 7, there is an outside walkway running the length of the ship but not really anything to see out here except lifeboats.

High roller room.

I loved that they put out little snacks at night.

IMG065-L.jpg

Some more machines leading out into O'Sheehans.

IMG066-L.jpg

Machine just outside O'Sheehans where you could take a picture and it would post it to Facebook. I think that's how it worked.

Studio rooms are located on 10 and 11. I could not get in to get pictures.

IMG110-L.jpg

Splash Acadamy is on 12.

IMG113-L.jpg

The carpets had fish on the floor to help you know which direction you were going. I never could find the rebellious fish that was swimming the other direction.

IMG111-L.jpg

On 15 at the front is the spa and gym.
