Try using the search tool here and didn't get a response on here, but if there is a thread already started can someone give me the link, if not, answer the question, how difficult would it be for cruisers to do this on their own, are their local tours in the ship terminal that offer that with the transportation or have to get a taxi or should I look online with tour companies.  Thanks

Generally speaking, if coming by cruise ship, you have to do it via the ship excursion. They don't take cruise guests independently.

You'd have to double check bus their website whether your ship is restricted - and if so, you could go around the restrictions by booking independently via the website, just put in you're staying at a hotel very coming off a ship. Yes , it's lying. Only you know whether that would bother you 

You could check with tour companies like Serenity TVL or Barefoot Holidays or Solar Tours and Travel or Real St Lucia tours or  such.

Not even remotely.  Anyone can go to the volcano any time their open. Its a public, open site. 

The Rainforest Adventure company has contracts with several of the cruise lines for tours - giving the cruise line tours exclusivity.  Same for Treetop Adventures. Or a couple other private companies that offer inky a specific experience - Segway company or such 

Nothing like that for the public, semi-government operated or open natural tourist sites - volcano, mud baths, botanical gardens, mineral baths, waterfalls and so forth.  Totally different entities.  

You could rent a car and go hit the sites yourself, no tiur needed if you wanted. Not recommended for a shore visit due to limited time, but it's an option.

It's just a few private adventures that have exclusive contracts with some cruise lines for their activities.  As noted above, you can get around it. Even some tour companies provide such for cruise guests, they're just not telling the actual provider their guests come off the ships.
