larasmom Posted January 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2006 this past december we all (10 girls) went on the RCCL majesty of the seas. we all had a good time but were not thrilled with parts of the ship. we wanted to do another cruise. we wanted to get suggestions from you cruise experts. we wanted to go to the western carribbean on a 3 or 4 day cruise. we want balconies for our rooms. we want a bigger ship then majesty any suggestions? i saw that carnival fascination has a 4 night cruise and they have quint rooms in category 12 (suite with balcony). only problem is we were looking for something that might be over a weekend because we dont' want our hubbies to have to mess up their work schedules too much getting the kids in/out of the house every day for school. any suggestions? we would be willing to do a quint in a larger sized balcony suite or 2 triples and 2 doubles. would the price be better then shown on the cruiseline websites since 2 of the passengers are senior citizens? and if we book 2, 3 or 4 suites at one time would there be some type of discount? so.............any suggestions you have i will take. I think the first question would be what was it that you did not like? Short cruises run on a revolving schedule so you'll have to hunt for one that closely meets your time frame of a weekend cruise. The short cruises are usually the older ships and they might not be the larger ships, Each line is different, and there are always exceptions to this as well. Sometimes there are repositioning cruises or holiday cruises that change the cruise length and they'll throw in a gap filler, a shortened cruise, to get the ship back on a normal schedule. Ships sometimes run senior or state residency discounts but this is a sale that occurs who knows when and mostly to move inventory when it's sitting. Your best bet is to make a list of what's important to your cruise experience and prioritize it. Then look to see what comes closest to meeting your needs. There are limited short cruises and they're limited on how far they can travel as well. When you have a little more time to spend you'll find there will be many more ships and options to choose from.
