Bean8800 Posted January 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We have a balcony room and were curious about bringing a DVD player onboard to hook up to the tv so our daughter could bring some movies to watch.... anyone done this before? msolberg Posted January 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We have a portable DVD player that we always take for the plane ride. It makes the time go by very quickly for that purpose. I know that some of the TVs have the jacks for DVD players but I wouldn't count on those. Diane
rico Posted January 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We haven't done it, but our TV did have the audio/video jacks on the front of the TV. Easily accessible. I can't imagine it would be a problem.
dosp Posted January 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2006 I've always been able to plug in to the TV in the cabin. This year we'll be on the Superbowl cruise, so I'm taking our 50" Sony Flatscreen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iamthesea Posted January 28, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Our stateroom has a VCR and you can rent movies from the library. Check to see if you have one first. We are in a Cat. 11. Also, there are first run movies on the TV. I'm with the above poster, you'll find plenty to do.
Bean8800 Posted January 28, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Thank you for the feedback! We sailed in a Cat 12 on the conquest once, and they had a vcr on it, but this time we are in a Cat 8 on the Pride (leaving tomorrow -yay!) Since my husband and I work crazy hours, I'm just excited to stay in our room and watch movies which we never get to do! I think I will try to bring our dvd player and a few movies and we will see. Thanks again to all who wrote!
Nectarologist Posted January 28, 2006 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2006 My wife & I brought our pertable dvd player. I thought it would be a waste of packing room but I'm glad we brought it and will do so next trip. I would pack a 6 or 9ft extension cord just in case there is no outlet right by the TV. Have a wonderful time!
OnlineMom Posted January 28, 2006 #9 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We haven't done it, but our TV did have the audio/video jacks on the front of the TV. Easily accessible. I can't imagine it would be a problem. I am hoping that the TV in our room (on the Caribbean Princess) has those jacks! I look forward to connecting my digital camera to the TV to review pictures at the end of the day...
Iamthesea Posted January 28, 2006 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Pride (leaving tomorrow -yay!) Since my husband and I work crazy hours, I'm just excited to stay in our room and watch movies which we never get to do!Couldn't you do that a lot cheaper staying at home and not spending $1000's of dollars? :D Seriously, I guess your DVD player could come in handy, especially if it rains. Have fun!
Bean8800 Posted January 28, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Good point about staying home! But I'm willing to spend 1000's to sit out on the deck and have someone bring me a pina colada or four!
J.A.H. Posted January 28, 2006 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2006 We just got off of the Spirit, and brought our DVD player and used it, no problem. We also brought a VCR and used that. It may depend on what ship you are on and how the T.V. is set up, but why not just bring it? Also bring an extension cord and all of the cables and stuff. If you have any more questions, I will ask my husband about the details!:)
