Day Pass in Aruba?

I am thinking of booking a day pass to RIU Palace while we are in Aruba.  My husband wants to be able to gamble (guess he doesn't get enough of that while on the ship) and I will enjoy the beach, pool, food and drink. Has anyone done this?  Would it be better to book a pass to Barcelo Occidental Grand?  Any help would be appreciated.  My daughter usually takes care of the excursions, but we are cruising on our own this time.
