thasmin Posted January 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2020 Can you help me with a 30 year memory? Does anyone here remember Cycladic Cruises (still exists I think) - and their ship the MTS City of Rhodos. It was a beater of a ship, but it was my first cruise, in 1989. At this point it has probably been scrapped, but who knows it could have been sold and re-furbished. Our itinerary was Mykonos / Patmos / Rhodes / Crete / Santorini. Does anybody have any memory of this ship or cruise line? (I am moving this thread here from the "other cruise lines" location as I was advised to do so.) thomas
Scandinavian World Posted January 14, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2020 (edited) Hi Thomas, "City of Rhodes" was the biggest ship of Cycladic Cruises. She was before named "33 Orientales" - an Argentinian coastal ferry which operates for Empresa Flota Fluvial del Estado Argentino on the La Plata River service between Paraguay - Argentina - Uruguay. Here you can see pictures of her and her lifespan on the latin website: https://www.histarmar.com.ar/BuquesMercantes/Marina Mercante Argentina/Pasaje/33Orientales.htm a deck plan as "City of Rhodos", as you traveled on her: best regards Frank Edited January 14, 2020 by Scandinavian World
