Anyone just back from the Jewel?

To anyone just back from the Jewel, 8 night Eastern, I have a few questions.

 

Are the formal nights on Sunday and Friday? Which one was more formal?

 

Did you have any trouble getting reserv. at Portofino or Chops?

 

Any suggestion on what nights are best to do Port. or Chops

The formal nights were the two sea days, so yes, Sunday and Friday. On our cruise 2 weeks ago, people actually dressed up more on the second formal night, but that's different from our last 5 cruises, where the first formal night (when the captain's reception is held) was more formal. However, there was a good mix of tuxes/suits and long gowns/cocktail dresses both nights, so don't worry too much that if you wear a long gown no-one else will be.

 

We didn't go to Chops or Portofinos, so I don't have an answer on that.

We were on The Jewel 1/28/06 and ate at Chops twice....They were sold out for our cruise so we were very glad we had booked shortly after we got on board.:D

I booked Chops and Portofinos the minute I walked into my cabin. Had a choice of anything that I wanted. Sailed 12/3/2005.

 

Enjoy your cruise. The Jewel is a beautiful ship and the itinerary was nice.
