what about airline tickets $$ that head south?

Recommended Posts

Depends on the airline and the category of ticket you purchased. Southwest, for instance, is quite liberal--you can cancel your ticket and use those funds to purchase any other ticket (for instance, a cheaper ticket you find if you subscribe to their "Ding" fares) and use the extra $$ on a future ticket.

We tryed that trick last year on AA but after the cancelation fee of $65 per person we decided to stick to the tickets we had already purchased.

And last year we booked our fight though expedia BUT, a few weeks before take off we receive an e-mail that the fight had been canceled do to low ticket sales and would be changing our fight, that was ok until we received our american express bill with $168 extra dollers per person added on, they said the new flight cost more, after a long argument the a feew supervisors later we received all our money back and rebooked our original fight at the same price as original through AA directly, the flight had not been canceled, expedia just had not sold enough seats and backed out of the flight.

moral: its better to book directly with the airlines, the prices are the same.
