Car rental bargaining?

I want to rent a car for when I am in Playa del Carmen in a few weeks. Any advice? Should I reserve one now say executive's website? Also I heard people say you can haggle with them over the price? Is this acceptable to haggle through email? :) Price quoted for a jeep is $90, can I ask them to raise it down to 50-60? Anyway I cant drive a manual transmission so that leaves out most low priced cars i believe. Any other rental co's at the pier in calica?
