4-night Imagination questions

My mom, my best friend, her mom and I will be sailing on the 4-night Imagination July 29 with stops in Key West and Cozumel. It will be my second cruise (last summer DH and I sailed RCCL in the Mediterranean) and a first for the other three.

We were wondering about formal nights- are there any on such a short cruise?

Can you book excursions before boarding the ship? I could with RCCL and it was nice to know what we would be doing before ever leaving home. Does Carnival allow you do this or are you at the mercy of good timing once you board? We thought about planning our own excursions, but I do enjoy the simplicity of alling the cruise line to do it for us, as our destinations are new to me and they are leaving much of the planning in my hands. Thanks for the help. I am sure as "the girls" come up withmore questions, I will be back1

We were just on The Imagination 4 nighter last month. The formal night was the 2nd night, Friday night after leaving Key West. I believe that the excursions had to be booked on board, but we did not take any. We did everything on our own. It was a great cruise and I am sure you will like it. I'm sailing on the Imagination in Sept with my mom, sis, s-i-l, s-i-l's and their girlfriend. A gals weekend getaway. Was it fun jemingway? We can't wait. It'll be a first cruise for two of them. Anything not to miss - entertainment, food, quiet places, etc?

It was a lot of fun. The ship was sold out and I have never seen 2000 so happy at one time. Everyone was polite and nobody was complaining. Usually, someone is difficult on a cruise, but this could not have been more pleasant. The shows were good, not great, but no complaints. The comedians were great-particularly the midnight shows. The food was very good both in the dining room and the buffet. The casino was always active and was nice. The piano bar was usually quiet, but as I passed by one night they were having a drunken singalong. At night, it was like being at a giant party - not a wild party, but a good one. I was on the 5 night Imagination cruise last week with my mother. You have to book your excursions on the cruise. You can book them as soon as you get on, or you can wait till after the cruise director(Troy Linton) does a Ports of Call "talk". Ours was the day after we left Miami. They will bring your tickets to your room. We booked our own excursion in Grand Cayman & booked Carnival for our Ocho Rios excursion. Both were lots of fun. Carnival's tours are more expensive though. The cruise was a blast. Great shows (ex. "Showtime", magician/comedian, "In America", guest talent show, etc.)The food was great in the dining room and Horizon Grill (buffets, pizza, ice cream etc. This was our first Carnival cruise but definitely not our last.

Just to clear up the excursion question, we booked our Grand Cayman (Nativeway)stingray city/snorkeling excursion from home on the internet. I think I booked it about seven weeks before we left. I just printed out the confirmation e-mail & brought it with me so I would have all the contact info. We only had a total of 6 people on our tour. We got great personal service. I found out about them on cruisecritic.com. I have read alot of good things about all the private tours on Grand Cayman though. We booked our Ocho Rios excursion on the cruise. Unfortunately, Carnival does not let you book these prior to the cruise via phone/internet. Have a great time. P.S. - the cruise director, Troy is very funny. He does the 1st night welcome abored show & hosts the talent show. Very funny!

jemingway - - -

I would love to know what was in the Capers for this cruise, especially the day at sea.

What would be the best way for you to share that info with me? As it is probably to large to indlude in this thread! (Yes, this question probably shows my computer "illiteracy"!)

Is it still possible for you to post the Capers for this cruise?

Just got our room assignments - ocean view R 115 and R 119. This seems to be the bottom of the ship. Anyone ever had a room on the Riviera deck who can tell me what the room/view will be like?

Hi Ally. Y'all will have a fun cruise, I'm sure!

The Riveria Deck isn't really the bottom of the ship. I mean, you won't be looking directly at water, if that's what you meant. It's just the lowest passenger deck. The crew deck and the rest of the ship are below you. I've never heard anyone complain about the Riveria Deck.

As far as booking excursions, I never do that. In Cozumel, for instance, it's SO easy to get anywhere on your own. Taxis abound, and are reasonably priced. If y'all decide to to to Chankanaab Park (which I love, and have been twice), the cab fare is $10 per cab (up to 4 ppl). Entry fee to Chankanaab is $12pp. Lots to do and see there.

You might want to go to the Ports-of-Call board and check out Cozumel forum. Anything you'd want to know about the different parks and/or excursions are discussed there.

Y'all have fun!
