Noordam 5/31 category VE guarantee?

We've cruised a few times, and done a river cruise, but have never booked a "guarantee." We got an excellent price on the Noordam, VE guarantee, 5/31/06. I am frankly hoping we stay in a VE, as that was my preference - well located, mid-ship, etc. I welcome any input as to what you think we can expect; apparently almost everything was sold out.

We booked a VF guarantee for Jan '06, realizing that some of the VFs have a solid steel balcony railing. We were hoping for an upgrade or at least one of the VFs with a clear railing. As luck would have it, we were assigned a cabin with the solid steel railing.

 

When we grumbled about it, they offered us an upgrade to a SY suite for $199 each for the first week and $149 each for the second week. We grabbed it and were very happy.

 

Suggest you get your TA to see what they can do after you get your cabin assignment.
