Kobe or Osaka?

We will be on a Regent Tokyo toTokyo cruise Oct 23, hopefully. We are docking in Kobe & I can’t make up my mind whether to stay in Kobe on our half day or take a ship’s tour to Osaka. On our full day we will travel to Kyoto. Can any previous cruisers help me with advice? Would be very grateful.

First, it is looking less and less likely that Japan will be open to cruise ships in October.

But the government might still surprise us………………

 

Kobe and Osaka are very close to each other, with very frequent trains running between the 2 cities.

Kyoto is a bit further away from Osaka, but still very close, with very easy train connections.

Why don’t you spend a half day in each of the 3 cities?

The Shinkansen from Kobe to Osaka takes 13 minutes and costs about US$10.

The Shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto takes 15 minutes and costs about US$11.

Thanks for the reply. The Oct cruise is 2023. We cancelled the one for this coming Oct. Next year’s will be our 4th attempt
