Honolulu Airport Area

Still trying to figure out what to do for the day when our cruise comes in at 7:00 am and our plane leaves at 10pm. If we take our luggage to the airport, is there any thing near the airport to do . Any beaches ? Shopping ? Restaurants ?

Not really. The airport is surrounded by an industrial area that also includes Naval Station Pearl Harbor (not just the museum part but also the much larger working naval base part which is off limits).

Also keep in mind that you usually cant check your luggage for a flight until 4 hours before your flight so really you would be looking at 6pm before you could do that.

I would venture into Waikiki and book breakfast or brunch at a nice hotel and check your bags there for the day. Use it as a home base and then depart for the airport later in the afternoon/early evening.

This is still your best option.

Thanks I was just hoping no to spend anymore money as all the excursions are costing a small fortune .

Getting a day pass at a hotel let's you not worry about your luggage so you can a) use the pool b) go to the beach c) walk around Waikiki d) eat in Waikiki e) All of the above.

We are staying In Honolulu post cruise and are actually in the same situation with a flight that leaves at 9:30 pm. We have to check out of our condo at 10 and didn’t know what to do with our luggage or how  to spend the day. We ended up renting a car from Hertz at their downtown location so we can take our luggage from the condo and tour a little bit before taking the car to the airport before our flight.

Be very careful where you park with your luggage in the trunk. Rental cars are easily identified and targeted at tourist locations on Oahu.

Thank you. Will certainly take your advice into account. Never really thought about this before. 😬
