Best option for quick stop at Charlotte Amalie overlook on way to Sapphire beach

We are a family of four wanting to visit Sapphire beach while in St Thomas.  I'd love to take a quick photo at the Charlotte Amalie overlook on the way.  Can we get on a shared taxi and ask to do this or do I need to book a private taxi?  Would it be a lot more than the ?$12pp to go to Sapphire beach if we stopped at the overlook?  Or are we better to book the 2hr island taxi tour option for ?$25pp and just have a quick snorkel at Sapphire beach?  Thanks for any info you can provide.

I know from reading reports from others that drivers offer that option either going to or returning from Sapphire for a little more $. We’d choose to have more time at Sapphire with just a stop at the overlook on Skyline Drive and Drake’s Seat, if that is an option.

I’d ask the taxi coordinator or drivers at the port about both options…
