Just back from the Glory -- review to come soon

Hi all,

Just got back from the Glory. I had a great time... the ship is beautiful. I plan on gathering the Capers and writing a day by day review to post soon, but I wanted to write on the following two topics before I forget.

1. Someone asked me a few weeks ago about departing flights. We had a 1:05 flight out of Orlando. We thought about doing self-assist, but wanted to see if we could get early flight luggage tags anyway. The purser's desk said that technically, only flights BEFORE 1:00 are eligible for early tags, but she gave them to us anyway. Nice gal. icon_smile.gif I'm glad we got these because I'm not sure we would have made it comfortably if we had to wait a lot longer. Debarkation was fairly slow. We were off the ship by about 9:45, then had to wait a few minutes for the bus to fill up. We were at the airport by 10:45, but the airport was a mess. We flew Southwest and the line was very long so it took a while to check in, and then the security line was even longer. We were at the gate by 11:30, so we had plenty of time and it worked out fine. But if you have a flight before 1:30, I'd suggest trying self-assist if you can. Other people have said they've gotten off earlier, so perhaps the slow debarkation and crazy airport don't happen every week.

2. Another person had asked about smoking. I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke and since I live in Maryland, I rarely encounter it indoors. I was so pleasantly suprised by the Glory's emphasis on designated smoking & nonsmoking areas. It was a major improvement over my first cruise in 2000. The only place where I was bothered by smoke was in the casino. The rest of the ship has many designated nonsmoking areas. The entire promenade seating areas are nonsmoking, as are the dining areas, the main lobby, the left side outdoor decks (port? I still can't keep these terms straight), elevators, and elevator corridors. Some of the bars were smokey, as expected, but there were several bars where you could sit and drink but not smoke. All the smokers were very considerate and I never saw anyone smoke in these areas. Maybe I just hit it on a lucky week, but it was wonderful.

Anyway, I'm sorry I couldn't find the original posts or names of who requested this info... hope you guys see this.

Sailing on 11-27-04 and also looking forward to your review! Know I'll love the ship anyway but it's always neat to read a review of a ship you know you'll be on in a few months! Our last Carnival ship was the Pride so am looking forward to a bigger ship this time.
