John Bull Posted January 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2023 If you just jump into a taxi in the line at the cruise terminal the driver will think all his Christmases have come at once - metered taxis are fine for local journeys such as to the train or bus station, but not for the 80 miles to London. If you want to avoid the much cheaper direct train or bus services, pre-book a private transfer. Try https://westquaycars.com/ or https://www.aquacars.co.uk/ fo a fixed price I'm out of touch with recent prices to central London, but I guess around £140 to £180 for a sedan or station wagon. Other operators and other options in detail in the "sticky" thread https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2662148-transfer-southampton—london-incl-lhrlgw-train-car-other/page/20/#comment-64728638 I've linked you to the latest page, be aware that info & prices get gradually more out-of-date as you scroll back thro the pages. Some operators provide both taxi & private transfer services - sometimes with the same vehicle - but with the meter disused for private transfers. Sadly, Smiths for Airports - a cruisers' favourite - were a victim of the pandemic so ignore references to them. JB 🙂
Grumpella Posted June 6, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2023 I used Paragon Taxis and pre-booked him, Adrian. 150 pounds. Nice guy, great service.
