Formal nights on 4 night Seaside

This will be my first MSC cruise and my first short cruise. Will there be a formal night? Dress code for dining room on a non-formal night, are slacks and a collared shirt ok?  Some of my friends we are going with found online that jeans are not to be worn at night in public venues (bars, theater and casino) I have never heard that for any cruise line. (I can understand no jeans in the dining room) Is this true?

No formal or Gala night on a 4 day cruise.  Slacks and collared shirt are fine on any night. You can wear jeans in the dining room, at least they did when we were on the Seaside.
