Taxis at Reykjavik Port

My cruise will end at Reykjavik.  Can somebody confirm if taxis are readily available at the port for debarkation? Thanks

Yes they are. They have a special line in the parking lot in front of the terminal. We waited over an hour on the line last July. Other people phoned the taxi company and were picked up right at the sidewalk, and others walked out the gate to the street where they were met by their drivers (short walk). Taxi rates for a trip within the city were very reasonable. To the airport VERY expensive.

Just for sake of clarity: the main international airport serving Reykjavík area is Keflavík Airport, which is something like 50 km from the city centre, which probably explains why the taxi fares are quite expensive. There is also another airport, Reykjavík Airport, that is next to the city centre and taxi fares between the cruise terminal and that airport are more tolerable, although since that airport offers only flights to elsewhere in Iceland and some destinations in Greenland, for most people that won't offer any help. For connections between central Reykjavík and Keflavík, the more cost-effective transport method is probably bus.

Thanks for your info so I think it’s better to prebook a taxi to save on the wait.

Is there a way to prebook a taxi from the Skarfabakki port? We will be disembarking there and will need a taxi to take us to a hotel in the city center.

Yes there are a few car services available. I was able to book a private car for 6 people and luggage from the airport to the cruise ship terminal for 204 Euros. I would imagine you could book a similar service for the reverse. I used Snaeland Travel. https://www.snaeland.is/
