Classic to premium upgrade deal

We are booked on several cruises with classic drink package.   We are both Elite plus.   When is the best time to do an upgrade?  Before or during the cruise?  Does our Elite plus discount combinable with any sale they may be offering ?  I've heard of stories where people get upgraded while on the cruise for $15 a day.

I would say before the cruise because you can get the cruise planner discount in addition to your captain's club discount. $15 is about the price I paid for my upgrade plus 18% for tips. You have to call in to do it.

 

I don't use a travel agent, so if you do, you may need to go through your travel agent.

Pre cruise to get the Elite plus discount.  Call to upgrade as you don’t get the discount if you do the upgrade online.

Thanks for this - I had no idea a discount on the upgrade was a Captain's Club perk. We're Select so it's only 10%, but still, it's something!
