sea-cruise Posted June 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2004 A few years back on RCCL, my daughter and I entered the "costume contest". My son inlaw bound us tightly in strips of burlap until we looked like logs, and we wore headbands with huge palm fronds attached (like the statue of liberty crown). We had a tiny net strung between us (hammock). As we were parading around the lido deck, a drunk sat on our hammock and dragged us down. We were rolling around on the deck and couldn't bend our legs or arms to get up. Everyone was laughing so hard, no one helped us for a minute or two. I don't get embarrased easily because I have a big sense of humor, but my daughter was mumbling while she rolled, in shock and embarrasement. When we finally were stood up and unwrapped, she stalked off to the cabin in humiliation. I thought it was great fun. Please post your costume contest stories...What have you worn or seen??? sea-cruise Posted June 5, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted June 5, 2004 We didn't win, but what the heck, it was so much fun, I didn't care. It sure was the talk of the ship after that though. People knew me by my orange shoes that I was wearing, and when they saw those shoes later, they asked if Gina and I were okay. I told them, "yeah, we're fine; only her pride was hurt". MrNobody, I'll bet that guy didn't want to wear the garbage bag after you reminding him of his title Celebrating 30th cruise soon....
imsulin Posted June 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Once, back in the late 80's, a large group of us were on the Norway. They had theme nights back then, but on the last formal night (not a theme night), all the ladies in our group decided to put two balloons in the tops of our dresses, and act as if nothing were wrong. We walked into the dining room, dressed to the hilt, and escorted by our husbands/SOs, and pretended not to notice the stares and the laughter at our "oversized" tops. We sat down and ordered and ate dinner as usual. One by one, the balloons began to pop (on one side at a time), and it was harder than heck to not react! We just continued on with our normal conversation, amid laughter from the staff and surrounding tables. It was really a hoot!
