Check in time in Barcelona

We are booked on QE sailing from Barcelona on 18th September. We have 3 cabins, and the occupants for each cabin have been given a different check in time, ranging from 2.45 to 4.45. Our TA has booked us a taxi from our hotel at noon. If we arrive (very) early, will we be able to board? Or should we get our taxi time changed?

The surest way to get onboard with minimal queuing is to arrive later, since usually quite a few people will have the same idea that it's best to arrive early. If you all arrived for 2:45pm then they would let all of you through. If you arrive early then the three scenarios are

- have to hang around before being allowed to queue up

- in a queue, but you get through

- for some reason, there's no queue and you are on quickly.

The later you leave it, the first 2 options fade out, the earlier you arrive the more likely the first option applies. Until the day of departure no-one will know the crowd dynamics that will apply.

I would imagine all 3 sets of occupants will get onboard together when you arrive. We sail from Barcelona the week after you and we’re given 4.30pm. But as our hotel checkout is at 12 we will get a taxi at 12 and hope for the best. QE arrives at 6am so it’s not as though the late boarding time is due to a late arrival.

We've decided not to risk arriving quite so far in advance of our designated check in times, and have changed our taxi to 2pm.

I have been through embarkation in Barcelona many times and with many different cruise lines. They never check assigned times,even during the height of post Covid in 2021.
