Mayapan Ruins Closure due to protests

My cruise is stopping in Progreso in early February. 

We have an excursion booked to see the Mayapan Ruins. 
The locals have been protesting since late November, blocking passage to the ruins for tourists.

I'm looking for an update on this.

The information seems to end there (mid-December) but I can't find confirmations that they have resumed visits to Mayapan ruins either.

Our cruise is in May and we had booked an excursion through the cruise line to see the Mayapan ruins last year. January 9th I received an email from the excursion company and then another from the cruise line stating that the excursion was cancelled and I would be refunded. They've since removed the Mayapan excursions and replaced them with another site. When you Google the Mayapan ruins it now states that it is temporarily closed but I have not found any more articles about the closure or when it will be opened again.
