Radisson Riverwalk in Tampa???

Has anyone used this hotel recently?I just won a 50 dollar bid on priceline.It seems to be nice from the website.Does anyone know if there is a grocery or drugstore type store near enough for the 3 mile shuttle? We wanted to buy our soda when we get to Tampa.Thanks Mariann

I have only stayed in Tampa a few years ago before Riverwalk was completely done. Probably has changed alot since then, but there were no places to buy soda, etc. without a long cab ride. We stayed at the Marriott (not too far from the Radisson), and it was pretty isolated at the time. Good luck!!

We stayed there this past October. It was nice. We took taxi from airport to hotel. There is a trolley that runs by about a block or two away and you can catch it to go to Harborside, but we were very unimpressed with Harborside. (I believe that is the name, but can't remember) As far as somewhere nearby to buy drinks, no. Concierge at the hotel was very nice and maybe they can help you with info. Maybe they have a courtesy car? Maybe trolley goes near somewhere? I would call them. By the way, we would stay there again. Little deli/snack place downstairs and also a nicer restaurant. We ate at a mexican place at Harborside for dinner. If you need to know anything else, let me know and I will try to remember. Ask for room overlooking river.

$50.00 is cheap for this hotel and it is usually full. There is a dining room over looking the Hillsborough River. The hotel is 1 mile from the cruise port. If I remember correctly they will shuttle you to the ship.

There is a grocery store on the other side of the river where Bayshore meets the bridge over the river and goes under the Tampa Convention center. It is a very short taxi ride from the hotel and less than a mile. I think it is a Kash and Karry. It's only been there about a year.

There is a grocery store within a mile or so from the hotel. There is also a pretty good deli very close by (across the street): Lucky Dill Deli.

You probably ate at Margarita Mama's. Channelside (not Harborside) has changed a lot in the last year. There is an art shop, tobacco shop, coffee shop, clothing shops, large IMAX movie theatre, Hooter's restaurant, new up scale restaurant, new Mexican restaurant, ice cream shop, bowling alley, Stump's Supper Club and new restaurant up stairs that I haven't checked out yet.

There is a Publix grocery store not far from the hotel, I don't know if the shuttle will take you there, but there are lots of cabs.

$50 is a good price, many of us got it for $39 this past January thru Harrahs. Harrahs has many dates available for $79 at this hotel. Just go to Harrahs.com and check out the "deals" section.

How convincing an argument do you think I would have if I told my husband we simply MUST go back to Channelside so I can get the name right and see all the changes which would mean we MUST sail out of Tampa again soon!!! (breathe)

 

What? Not a chance you say??? Yep. I must plan a different strategy. We sail out of the other side (Jacksonville) in October. Enjoyed Tampa trip very much.

I stayed at this hotel back in november. The hotel and staff were great. the shuttle (aka minivan) will take you anywhere you want within the 3 mile radius. we ate at stumps supper club and it was great. We also stayed out there at an outside bar in channelside until after the shuttle was done running then took a taxi home. Piece of advice, make sure you have a cell phone to be able to call the hotel to have the shuttle come get you. Also you need to give them a few minutes to be able to get you somewhere because sometimes there are coming back from dropping others off. We just tipped the guy a buck or two per person everytime we used the service. In the morning before you leave for the ship you need to give them a good hour because there was a few people from our hotel that needed to go. If you need anymore info let me know.

I dont know if it is a Kash and Karry or Publix, but I would say it is less than a mile. I wouldn't walk there but the hotels shuttle will be able to get you there.

WOW! Great price! I have been trying for a couple of weeks to get something (of this caliber) in Tampa. I got up to $75. with no luck, but since it's for New Year's night, I knew it would be hit or miss. I went ahead and just booked it thru their (Radisson's) site for $109.(based on the good reviews on another thread esp. from nycrusier79) I will try priceline again in the early Fall.
