Boarding time for Viva in San Juan

Recommended Posts

Anyone who has cruised on the Viva out of San Juan, what time did they open up the ship to board.  Traffic in San Juan seems to open up around the cruise terminal around 11:00 ish so I was hoping to get there around 11 and get right on to the ship.

We were on the 2/18 sailing.  Our assigned check in time was 10:30.  But, we arrived at the port early - probably just before 10.  They checked boarding passes and passports just after we dropped our bags with the porters.  Next was security and there was no line at all.  After that we sat in the waiting area briefly.  They must have let us head into the check in area at around 10:30 or so.  Short wait to check in - maybe 5 minutes.  Check in went very quickly for us and our parents.  We got our welcome aboard pics.  Then, we were on board just before 11am.  Smoothest check in ever!

Boarding time is 100% dependent upon how long it takes to clear the ship of the passengers from the previous cruise.  If there's a delay with customs (as there was with my cruise from Miami in January) it can delay disembarkation and cause boarding to be delayed, and there's no way to know from one week to the next if that's going to happen.  There could also be those people that insist on spending every last second on the ship that they can, forcing a sweep of the ship to get them to leave.

You should be good at 11am. We got to the terminal around 12:30, got our bags checked in with the porters and headed over to the priority line.  We were onboard and checked into our muster station in less than 25 min.

If not priority, what is the earliest?

We had 11:30 boarding time and showed up around 10:45 and walked right through. Took us about 15 minutes to get through everything.

Thanks.  We have 12:30, but wanted to show up early (rather than later) but wasn't sure what time is set aside first for the Haven and/or Priority.
