Canada Day in Saguenay

Can we expect any kind of festivities to be going on to commemorate Canada Day on July 1st while we are in port at Saguenay?

Perhaps something like our U.S. 4th of July celebration?  Fireworks maybe? We hope to take the Hop On/ Hop Off tour but have no other plans.

Saguenay is very small and walkable. We were there last September. A nice welcome with lots of people demonstrating pioneer type activities. Sorry, don’t know about their Canada Day activities. Sometimes places in Quebec are not very enthusiastic about the holiday but a google search may help

There will definitely be festivities including fireworks. I believe last year the fireworks were postponed due to the high risk of wildfires at that time. Also take into consideration that several businesses may be closed, this day being a public holiday. I recommend this website which is currently in winter mode, but information for the summer season should be available shortly.

Yikes! Last year "Canada Day" was cancelled in many cities, including Saguenay, to protest the previous treatment of indigenous people. There may not be a celebration after all.

This is old news (2021). The only thing canceled last year in Saguenay was the fireworks
