Airline payments for flight delays

Does anyone know one know how Regent handles payments made by airlines for flight delays under US, UK or EU rules. We recently experienced a 3+ hour delay in aa flight over 5,000 miles and under applicable UK rules the airline is required to make a compensation payment of several hundred dollars. The ticket was purchased by Regent but the customer suffered the delay and, in the spirit of the rules, should be entitled to the compensation payment. Does Regent, who will as the ticket purchaser receive the compensation payment pass that payment to the customer (especially one who paid an additional fee for flight upgrades) or retain the payment?

You are the passenger so should be able to apply direct to the airline for the relevant compensation (most major airlines have on-line forms to enable you to apply)

No one (including Regent) will receive any compensation without applying for it.
