Flam - sea kayaking excursion - question

Recommended Posts

We have a sea kayaking excursion booked in Flam (through our ship - Celebrity).  Wondering about the footwear.  We can bring along water shoes or water sandals, but don't want to bother packing if not needed.  Don't want to wear our normal tennis shoes since they would likely get wet.  Do the outfitters provide footwear?  Thanks!

The outfitters would likely provide whatever gear is needed if it’s not specified that you need something in particular. It’s highly unlikely that you’d be getting your shoes wet.

For anyone looking to do this excursion - the outfitter did provide booties, and yes - you MAY get your feet wet.  The kayaks did have water inside when we got them, so depending on how much water was in the kayak - you may get your feet wet.  Also - when you land on the beach - you may not get all the way onshore - if you have their booties - it is good - no worries about your own shoes getting wet.  Outfitter also provided a wind/water resistant jacket and a spray skirt to keep the water (mostly) out of the kayak.  For some people that showed up in jeans or other clothing that was not really ideal, they provided some alternate zip on suits as well (not wet suits, but somewhat of a cross between wet suit and sports material, but would be better if it got wet or rained on than jeans or pure cotton).

There were some lockers at the outfitter to leave personal belongings (no locks) - so you can leave your own shoes there.  They also will give you a small box to keep your phone or other things in and you can keep that inside a storage place in the kayak or strapped onto the kayak.

Excursion was fantastic, and I highly recommend it.
