ketchikan parking

we have planned to rent a car for our time spent in ketchikan. Does anyone know is parking readily available? I saw something about needing to purchase a parking permit? We plan on driving to Totem Bright, Saxman Village, perhaps stops at Totem Heritage center and perhaps the Eagle/Salmon hatchery.

 

I know downtown is walkable, however we have two with us who cannot endure extended walking..

Yes, parking is available. Their is a parking lot on the north side of Tongass Tradings dock store that has a short term lot and turnover is fairly quick. The only places that require a permit are the long term monthly lots. Just don't park in spaces that say "reserved" or you may wind up getting towed. Lastly,

when walking in Ketchikan always use the crosswalks and always follow the directions of the the crossing guards.
