We will be sailing on the Valor on May 7th. Does anyone have any favorite locations on the ship? What do you like the best about the Valor? We will be doing the Eastern Caribbean. What was your least favorite part of the cruise?

Thanks for responding,

We were on the Valor in March with the Eastern itinerary and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had great tablemates at dinner and never even bothered to try the "pay" restaurant. Rosie's restaurant on Deck 9 is a nice place for brreakfast and lunch, and they have a deli there as well with good sandwiches. But the best was "Fish N' Chips" on deck 10 up a stairway from Rosie's. Go there early in the cruise because when people find out about it, the place is pretty crowded. The ports are the usual with Nassau, St Thomas and St Maarten and if you have never been to these islands, they are great, especially St Thomas and St Maarten for shopping. The entertainment on the ship was OK particularly the production shows. The other shows were "so-so" and not something to write home about. The cruise director and his assistant were pretty good. The only thing I could not understand was that they only showed one movie in the Eagle Lounge and it was shown on a port day in Nassau. It was a good movie, "Walk The Line" and I heard that only about a dozen people were there. Anyway, I'm sure that you'll have a great time on Valor, so enjoy!!!! ;)

We thouroughly enjoyed Scarlett's. It costs extra to have dinner there, but in my honest opinion it was worth every penny. I also loved the fish and chips on the 10th floor of Rosie's Restaurant. My least favorite part of the cruise was getting off the ship and returning home...back to reality.

I also found it helpfull to make my own deck plans that fit behind my sail and sign card and was about the size of a credit card. These were easy to make. All you have to do is put the following in a Microsoft Word document. Format in: Normal 8pt bold: Times New Roman: 8pt and divide into four equal columns(where the divided line is move to the next column). Trim the excess paper, fold in half, and then laminate it. These plans are set up by floor, from Forward to Aft. I hope you use these as much as we did. When you get onboard the ship go to the casino and get a free lanyard, they will also punch a hole in your sail and sign card. The hole on the deck plans needs to between the second and third column.

We could be found in two places. Either the Bronx Bar or Deck 10, aft. We booked 6A GTY and ended up in 2412. Which we loved so much, that we booked the same area for our 4/07 Triumph cruise. We were near the aft bank of elevators, so we had easy access to EVERYWHERE. We would hop on the elevators and head up to Rosie's. Go out the glass doors, towards the aft pool, grab a drink or two at the pool bar and up the steps to Deck 10. It was an awesome place to catch some rays and relax, NEVER had problems getting deck chairs...no annoying Lido band (the one that was onboard when we were SUCKED, "Laws"), nice and quiet, conveinent to the restrooms, grill/pizzaria, pool...it was AWESOME.

Have a blast, I'm jealous! The production shows were good, the other shows we skipped (except one of the late night comedians, who wasn't the best). The guy in the Piano Bar didn't impress me (Ed Rrocks) and karaoke was jam packed every night. The disco was fun, but pretty chilly (bring a sweater!). Wait for any spa treatments until the last few sea days...they had spa girls out recruiting those of us laying out on deck ("2 for 1" deals). Nassau wasn't anything great, don't care if I ever set foot there again (if you're looking for something to do, I'd hop a cab to Atlantis and poke around). St. Thomas was beautiful (we did Godfrey and LOVED him), but my favorite was St. Maarten (even though we booked a ship excursion, which sucked). Hope that helps!

We were on the Valor in Feb. 2005.

Without a doubt, the best part of Valor was the piano bar (with Ron Pass -- www.ronpass.com). I think he is leaving the ship now and I don't know who is next.

Supper club was excellent too.

We did Western Caribbean - all the ports were great.

Only bad part? When it was over :(

There was no bad parts to our cruise.

The smoke got to me, but just put a damper on things and we didn't go where it was smokey. I wanted to see the piano bar because I heard so many good things, but that place was full of smoke.

Nassau was dull and I'd never go back, but it wasn't "bad".

We had an awesome, awesome cruise and the ship is amazing. The service was great, we were never hungry, we cuddled with our down pillows, had great tablemates, had decent weather, etc...

You will love the Valor. It is an amazing ship.

I checked out his website. He looks like a lot of fun. Now I'm sad to see that he wont be on our cruise. He will be on the Valor until late April. :( The pianist we had last year was pretty boring and the bar was always empty. I wonder who will be replacing Ron Pass????

We were on the Valor in October and Ed Rocks was the pianist... he rocks!!!! He was awesome and I know why he has such a great rep... someone replaced Ed soon after our cruise... so I would imagine that is who is on there now until Ron comes back...

I saw on another thread that Ron Pass will be back on the Valor starting May 21st. That's my cruise! yeah!

If you are a non smoker, you won't be able to enjoy him. That bar is one of the worst on the ship for smoke. I was so bummed.

Not all non smokers won't be able to enjoy the piano bar... if you can handle most bars that allow smoking, you can handle the piano bar... it's not even as bad as most bars around here, since they are much smaller. The nice thing about the piano bar on the Valor is there really isn't a bad seat in the house... it's nice and open as well. Give it a try... I'm sure some nights are worse than others, but you should be able to find a spot.

We just got off the Valor, our first cruise ever and had a wonderful time. Things that I really enjoyed:

1. The gym and spa.

2. The evening dinners in the Washington room. The food was great.

3. Fish and Chips

4. Soft serve frozen yogart

5. Deck 6 or 7 all the way to the front. There is a door. Great place to see the stars at night.

6. Tuesday night the magician and juggler were very good.

7. Deck 12 right in front of Camp Carnival is a great place to enjoy the sun without many people or wind!

Enjoy yourself. It was such a treat for us!

Least favorite part of the cruise = debarkation

The Valor was awsome. Although I have nothing to compare her to since it was our first cruise. I am sure you will have an great time.

I was on the valor last october i think it was the 9th - 16th. Ed Rocks in the piano bar was by far the best entertainer on the ship. I spent prety much every night in there, it was a blast. I dont know who is on there now but its worth checkin out....Another place i was really fond of was the bar by the pool during the daytime hrs, its a great place to hang out and have a drink or 20 while chatting with people.

Yes, the piano bar on the Valor rotated when I was there, but they could malfunction. The piano bar on the Liberty was supposed to rotate, but the piano player said it was broken. On other hand, he was a "dud" so maybe he just didn't want to spin!

I don't like the smoke either, but we always got seats right at the piano and it didn't seem so bad (maybe I didn't notice after a couple of cosmos:D ).

BTW - we had great waiters in the piano bar and the bartender that served there was awesome-- he actually put alcohol in the drinks (not like on the Liberty this year).

I saw a thread about how much money to bring on a cruise... I always bring lots of singles for the bowl on the piano bar. Shoot 'em in all night.

Definitely hang out with Ron Pass on the Valor. I didn't get my voice back for 3 days after I got home.
