GldnRm01 Posted May 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2006 This is where one of our stops is with RCCL. There's been a lot of suggestions as far as restaurants and beaches, however, My wife and i are from Florida so the beach is not that big a deal for us. We may end up going if there isn't anything else more exciting to do which kind of leads me to the question. What are the real Hi-Lites of this area? If we only have this one 8 hour visit there what are the best things to do or see? (we have tons of restaurants in Florida and a smorgasboard of beaches from the keys to the panhandle, gulf coast-atlantic- those from Florida are familiar with what i mean) Also, is our cruise stopping where all the other cruise ships are or are there several different areas to port? richtersl Posted May 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2006 I agree that a "beach is a beach is a beach" but the scenery you'll get at St. Thomas beaches is far different than anything you'll see in Florida. First off, you'll never see mountains or hills near any beaches in Florida.;) Perhaps a nice way to spend the day and see highlights of the island would be to book a tour with Godfrey. Here's his web site with contact information on it: http://godfreytoursvi.com/. Basically, he picks you up at the ship and brings you into town where you can stroll around and do some shopping. Then he takes you on an island tour. The last stop is some beach time at one of three beaches: Sapphire, Coki, or Magen's. I have pictures from our tour here: http://lrichters.smugmug.com/gallery/1196385 His tour is reasonably priced and there are many good reviews here on this tour.
