Zenith, Bermuda Cell Phones

Do cell phones work on ship or in Bermuda to call home to the States? Leaving tomorrow and would like to know. Forgot to ask before. OMG, what else am I forgetting.

I was on the Zenith last year and used my Sprint PCS phone while docked in Hamilton. No problem. Only used it once to say hi to my babies, then the phone was put away and forgotton about. Enjoy.

I have Verizon service and my cell phone worked fine in Bermuda. You cannot use it when you are at sea though.

I have service with Verizon. The phone works fine in Bermuda. It is .69 per minute above your monthly minute allotment. (for most plans) Dial 611 from your cell phone to check with them.

I have a quad-band GSM phone from T-Mobile and it worked fine. My mom has something else from Verizon, not sure what kind, it's just their absolute basic phone (not a fancy GSM one like mine), and it worked fine. You don't even have to know the country code to dial US-numbers: just use 1-area code-number like we do at home and it all works fine.

 

Voice mail retrieval might not work as expected, but that depends on carrier. Mom and I were both able to get our messages, but I had to get mine the way I do overseas, which involves dialing a certain number and then pressing * and then entering my password, rather than just hitting my "voice mail" button.
