Formal Nights

Recommended Posts

The following expectation can be found on RCI’s Web Page:

What are the dress codes onboard?

There are three distinct types of evenings onboard: casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested guidelines for these nights are:

Casual: Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women

Smart Casual: Jackets and ties for men, dresses or pantsuits for women

Formal: Suits and ties or tuxedos for men, cocktail dresses for women

3 to 4-night cruises include one formal night and two or three casual nights.

5 - nights include one formal, one smart casual and three casual nights.

7-night cruises include two formal nights, one smart casual night and four casual nights.

10, 11, and 12-night cruises include three formal nights and three smart casual nights, all other nights are casual.

14 and 15-night cruises include three formal nights and four smart casual nights. All other nights are casual.

We appreciate your usual parental guidance and cooperation in observing these easy guidelines with your children.

Hi, First cruise on Enchantment in February, actually started shopping now, as we are not going to find summer wear in New England in February. In regards to Formal: Are teenage boys also wearing such formal wear as suits and tuxes? on Smart Casual: Are all men wearing jackets and ties, including teenage boys? It is starting to sound like the dinner attire is going to cost us as much as the cruise!! If you choose not to attend the formal nite, or any other nite, where else is there to eat that evening? When you attend these dinner seatings, does everyone choose something to eat off a menu with limited selections or is it a wide variety?

Thanks for any info!

MsWeezie99, I usually see the teenage boys in suits on formal nights although I have seen a few in tuxes. Men/boys normally wear a jacket or sports coat on Smart Casual nights.

If you opt not to dress up, there's always the Windjammer Cafe.:)

Enjoy your first cruise and have fun; don't let attire stress you out and put a damper on it.:p

I'm sort of picky and I always manage to find several things on the menu to satisfy the taste buds. And remember if you don't like it feel free to order something else. You're actually encouraged to order more than one item (especially desserts). One night are waiter surprised us with one of everything for dessert because we couldn't decide.:D

no need to go crazy about dressing up. On Formal night, most men wear a dark suit and tie. Teenaged boys can come dressed in suits, or sports jackets. On other nights, just use discretion...jackets are optional...dress dockers with a collared shirt are always a smart choice.
