Recommended Posts

Great day today. :)

4/8/2006

Liberty of the Seas was floated out today at Aker Yards in Turku at a ceremony hosted by Yrjö Julin, president of

Aker Yards, Cruise & Ferries. The vessel is the sister of Royal Caribbean International’s Freedom of the Seas.

The float out came on the same day that Fincantieri launched Costa Serena at its Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa.

Among the guests on hand for the Aker festivities was Harri Kulovaara, evp maritime for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

Liberty of the Seas is scheduled for delivery in April 2007, and the third vessel of the Freedom series will arrive

in 2008. Liberty will be equipped with a FlowRider surf park, cantilevered whirlpools, a full-size boxing ring, a

Presidential Suite sleeping 14 people and other concepts originated by Freedom of the Seas.
