Do vitamins have to be in a labled bottle?

...quick question, we're leaving tomorrow on the Wind, not going through any airports, as we live in Victoria and will take the ferry to Vancouver. What is required for security checks of your luggage? We are planning on handling all of our own baggage, not checking it in to be delivered later, its all smaller roller types with duffle bags. We have various vitamins and non prescription meds that we normally put into zip-lock baggies, will this be OK with whomever checks this kind of thing prior to boarding the ship? Also, one of the items in the duffle bag is a small fan, is it ok to bring a small fan on board?

We took prescriptions and vitamins in plastic zip locks and had no problems on the Star 8/13. We did take a list of all meds/vitamins with dosage in case something happened. :) Didn't even have problems with the airlines being in plastic bags in our carry on. We were up front with them.
