Anyone planning to go on the Empress of the Seas Janaury 29th from San Juan?

Yes I just booked the cruise while I was on the Freedom last week. There are 3 of us coming that are gay and a set of parents and a straight woman. Then there are friends of ours we met on the Freedom who will be coming and letting themselves be known shortly I am sure

Ken and Wayne here. Booked with Frank last week on Freedom. Haven't been on this class of ship before, but the itin sounds great. FOS was fabulous. Really BIG!!:D

They would not publish any meetings for non-RCCL groups or activities, like Friends of Dorothy or even Friends of Bill. They said we could post our own messages on the board in the library. Kind of lame, since no one knew about it. Anyway, if that continues to be the policy, we will try it on the Empress. Wasn't too difficult meeting family anyway, but the meetings made it easier.

Hopefully there wll be more posts soon. This cruise is a great bargin.

See ya,

Ken

Great to hear that there are a few gay people going on the cruise. (I mean other than the crew.) :) This is Brad and Eric - we are so excited about the itinerary, best one we have seen. We are going with 2 other friends, Steve and Tim. So you got the fever when you were on the Freedom of the Seas? Ken...Really BIG!! ??? Hmmmm, size queen! LOL

We sailed for the first time in 2004 and now we can't stop. We do love the the larger ships - we went on the Carnival Conquest. In January we went on the Holland America Maasdam - it is about the size of the Empress. The smaller boats are great because they sail longer itineraries, go into more ports, have more friendly crews, less kids, and easier to meet people and make friends. Also it just seems easier to get around, board the ship, tender, etc. We can't wait!

It would be great if we could all meet the first night. How about the Viking Crown Lounge on deck 10? Do you guys have late / early seating for dininer - we were thinking to meet around 9pm - does that work for everyone?

Eric is packing our hawaiian shirts - so I am sure we will be the couple in the bright orange and red floral prints....talk to you soon! Brad and Eric

Hey Brad & Eric, Welcome aboard we all have the late seating for dinner I am the one who talked Ken & Wayne into taking this cruise, of course it didn't take to much talking once they saw the price and the ship board credits they got LOL. I am sure we would all love to meat (oops) the first night we just need to set the time that works with our dinner.

Hi - we can always meet after the late dinner, or after the entertainment that night. The casino is always there to keep us busy while you guys are eating :)

Looking forward to the cruise! I know we have a few months to plan so we can put together a plan to meet up. I don't want to turn into Julie the cruise director with my obsessive planning! LOL

Talk to you soon!

Brad

Hi Brad, Eric and Frank,

Sure is a slow thread. Lazy bunch, I guess. Me included, of course! LOL

Would be great to meet on the first night. Why don't we try to meet before dinner, say about 5 or so at one of the smaller bars. Then we can make plans from there. Casino might be too crowded or too BIG to find anyone, unless they really stick out. :p

We'll be in San Juan for three days before the cruise, so that's another opportunity to get together pre-cruise. We'll be staying at the Atlantic Beach Hotel.

Returned from NC last week. Had a great time. Sorry we didn't think about visiting you Frank, but will certainly consider it next time. We are planning on Christmas and New Year's Eve in Asheville. Maybe you could come up for a visit too.

We're going on the Pied Piper post Thanksgiving cruise with our two sons. Trying to get that trip planned and time is getting SHORT. Hopefully we will get it all together soon.

Anyway, take care guys.

Ken

Frank,

OOOPS!!! My bad. Plans have apparently changed and will be in NC for Christmas, but back in FLL for New Years. Will check with Wayne who's taking a friend to the airport right now, but he told someone earlier that we would be here for New Years. What can I say. Stay tuned.

Will make payment with Tyra next week. We leave for Europe on the first and return on the 14th. Going to Copenhagan, Sweden, Amsterdam and Paris. Wayne's nephew and family live in Sweden, so we'll be paying them a visit and then just cruising around.

Joined the local Prime Timers in FLL this week. Went bowling  with them on Wednesday. Had a great time. Didn't embarrass myself too much. Wayne watched.

Well, it's Friday night --- PARTY TIME!:p Then again, so was yesterday and the day before that and the day before that, etc.

See y'all soon,

Ken

We can't wait - Colorado is having our share of cold weather, right now it is about 5 degrees outside. After our 3rd snowstorm in two weeks the cruise will seem all that more wonderful....now we are ready for packing, is it too excessive to bring 5 pairs of shoes? :) Brad and Eric
