RCCL Transfers- San Juan

Wondering whether or not to use the ship transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to pier, pier to airport. I'm seeing on the message board that it is not well run and quite the hassle. We are arriving a day early and presently have transfers from Old San Juan Hotel to the pier and then the pier to the airport when we return. What do those who have done this recommend? We will be on vacation and don't want the hassles. The transfers were only $13 pp so the price is good, but may not be worth the hassle.

Taxis are plentiful are far less expensive than using a transfer. Also, you don't have to wait for a bus to fill before getting to the ship or getting to your hotel. Their are vans at the airport that can accomodate larger groups and your hotel can arrrange for a van to get you to the port.

Well we too had transfers from hotel in osj (El Convento) to the ship included in our pkg of cruise and hotel. We did our own airfare after cancelling custom air - but thats another thread

We had to check out at 11:00 - they held our luggage as transfer was not to pickup until 1:00. We went and ate breakfast, shopped a bit and returned at 12:30 (just in case). We waited and waited and waited. Finally took a taxi. Not sure if it ever showed up.

Now - here is the kicker....we paid $20.00 for 4 of us and luggage (alot of luggage) for a taxi = $5.00 a person. HMMMM lets see $13.00 vs $5.00 AND YOU SAY WHEN instead of sitting in a lobby waiting for a transfer to show up (or not). After cruise we got off and right into a taxi for the airport.... no problem as there were tons of them at the pier.
