Here is a report dated Sept 26 by a couple on the ship now!!!!

My wife Tara and I have now been aboard the Galaxy for 24 Hrs.

IMO. having been on both very early sailings (3rd inaugural) of both HAL

Oost and X Connie, we have a good idea of what a new ship feels like.

So far we see very little difference between those ships and the Galaxy.

T-pools and hot tubs here are all operational, and we see very little so

called wear n tear. Sure, the T-pool here is very small compared to the

Connie or Millie. (Free w/Suites) True, there's no Turkish steam baths.

On the other hand, unlike the gaudy-vegas glitz of the new ships, the

Galaxy is decorated tasteful, understated, and quite elegant. The

casino looks brand new. Computer lab is also new.

True if you really look closely, you'll see the need for upgrades in

replacing older plastic furniture in the aft deck 11th floor, or the

occasional window is foggy, paint needed on a balcony light, but

that's being really picky, looking for things-lol....

Our 10th floor sky suite is immaculate, looks brand new, the patio is

teak wood and large, and our first dinner here on board was truly truly

SCRUMPTIOUS.

There's also nothing like having your first breakfast in the aft area

deck outside in the sun while passing the Stromboli Volcano and

Messina Straits...

More importantly, the Turkish ports are back on...

Hope you enjoy your time on the Galaxy. So far 24 Hrs in, It's a great

ship, with all the hallmark X service one would expect...

how is the weather there now?

We were on Galaxy Med last year 10/5/05 for ten days and weather was delightful. No need for a jacket. Rained one day is all. Temps in 70's - low 80's during day. Low 70's to 60's at night. Seas calm as well. Hope you have a great cruise

Weather in the med in November can get windy (storms), "cold" (15-20 degrees celsius) and rainy. This is a season of hit and miss.

I'm in the med very frequently and especially in this period because of business, but unfortunately the chance on some good weather is 50%, this is my experience as a med-visitor. Sure, there are always some good days but I would never recommend cruising to this region at that time of the year.

Especially the Greece islands, the southern of France and northern part of Italy can be very unstable.

I know you'll like to hear something different, but my advice for future cruisers to the med is don't go later as mid-october. If bad weather miss you, you'll have a wonderful cruise. If it does hit you, make the best of it, and I know that's very easy because the med is a wonderful place to be.
