Help, Cabin Transfer Question

I was told today that if your TA transfers your cabin to another booking agency that you may not necessarily get to keep your cabin. That whomever the new booking agent is has to give a new booking # and for a very short period your cabin becomes available and you could lose it. Is this true? Sounds sort of farfetched to me. But, you never know.
