Dropping off luggage at port...questions?

We will be on the Spirit out of San Diego next month and I have a few questions. As there is so much to see in San Diego...we want to spend the morning doing some activities...but, don't want to drag around our luggage.

 

Can we drop the luggage off with a porter and then leave? Or, do we need to check in first? And...do we all have to be there to drop it off. What I would like to do is be at the San Diego Zoo with DD as soon as it opens at 9:00...while DH and DS stay at the hotel. And then around 10:00 DH and DS would head to the port, drop off the luggage, and then walk over to tour the Midway that is docked near by.

 

Also, will we all need to be together to check in? Or, can DH and DS check in without us if they get back to the port before we're back from the zoo?

Yes you can drop your luggage off to the porter and leave but 10am may be a bit earily, if it were me, i would until 11am to drop the luggage off, there will be alot of traffic and passengers trying to get off the ship at 10am.

You won't have to be with him to drop off the luggage but you will need to be together to check in, it prevents alot of hassels.
