Ruinas del Rey?

Has anyone visited these ruins? I understand they are within the "hotel zone" and obviously much closer than Tulum. I know they would not be as majestic but am hoping they are intersting just the same. I so much want to see Mayan ruins but do not want to take the ship's tour (1 1/2 hrs. each way, no lunch and $109). I've also heard it is very hot in Tulum. I would very much appreciate any information on these ruins and how to get there from the pier. Thank you in advance.

Any taxi driver will take you there. This is a small site. There is usually a guide. They are usually well informed. It just whets your appetite to see more. This site is in the hotel zone the Hilton golf course was built around it. If you can go to Tulum or Coba do it. Chitzen Itza is the ultimate but a long long ride even from Cancun. We own a time share in Cancun and have seen most of the ruins at least once some more with family that have never been. We rent a car and wander for a day or 2.
