Any recommendations for dinner in Miami

Hi everyone! We'll be arriving in Miami the day before our cruise leaves and we're hoping that someone could recommend a reasonably priced restaurant for dinner. We'd love to try cuban food if that's a possibility. We're staying at the Sofitel and will not have a rental car but we don't mind taking a taxi somewhere as long as it's not too far away. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

I've heard good things from some locals about Perricone's, 15 SE 10th St., http://www.perricones.com. It shouldn't be too far from your hotel, though you would definitely need to take a cab. There are also plenty of restaurants at Bayside Marketplace. Bubba Gump shrimp and Lombardi's seem to be popular with other cruise critic members.

Unfortunately Perricones is in Brickell which is right next to the port area as well as Bayside Marketplace. The Sofitel hotel is near the airport and would cost you a lot to go and come back in a cab.

There isn't much in the area of your hotel...you would need to venture off a bit

I reccomend checking out any of the restaurants in the Dolphin Mall which include Texas De Brazil, Friday's and there is a cuban place on the firt floor...I can't remember the name but you can't miss it right by the entrance of Texas de Brazil. The Dolphin Mall is closer and shouldn't be that bad by taxi.

Your hotel is a short cab ride, 4.4 miles, less then 10 minutes from one of the most famous Cuban restaurants in Miami. Versailles, A popular Cuban Restaurant that is a Little Havana tradition; enjoy Cuban specialties in a casual family style atmosphere.

Versailles is the meeting place of Miami's Cuban power brokers, who meet daily over café con leche to discuss the future of the exiles' fate. A glorified diner, the place sparkles with glass, chandeliers, murals, and mirrors meant to evoke the French palace. There's nothing fancy here -- nothing French, either -- just straightforward food from the home country. The menu is a veritable survey of Cuban cooking and includes specialties such as Moors and Christians (flavorful black beans with white rice), ropa vieja (shredded beef stew), and fried whole fish. Versailles is the place to come for mucho helpings of Cuban kitsch. With its late hours, it's also the perfect place to come after spending your night in Little Havana.

The name and decor may be French, but Versailles's cooking is Cuban all the way. Patrons swoon over deliciously authentic food and the dining room's opulence, complete with candelabras, gilt-framed mirrors and tuxedo-clad waiters. Still, everything's not as upscale as it sounds - the vibe is relaxed and dishes are happily affordable. Ropa vieja, made with zesty shredded beef, is a fine introduction to the bold cuisine, and arroz con pollo may forever change your opinion of chicken and rice.
