Taxi to San Diego Pier or Transfer?

Hi all,
We've finally booked our Panama Canal Cruise and darn excited about it!
But, I have a question for someone experienced with departing from San Diego: Which would be better, to take a Princess tansfer (bus) or a taxi? Tansfers are $17 and there are 4 of us traveling. Is it far from the airport? Are the taxis expensive? Are there some taxis that can hold 4 with luggage?

Thanks loads for your help and advice!

Even if you each had to take your own taxi, it isnt going to cost $17. My friend and I did this back in May and I think it was $6 something. My friend felt so bad that it was such a short ride that he gave him just as much in tips. Not sure about the 4 people plus bags, but it was only about a 5 minute ride so someone could sit with bags. I would say either a van or 2 taxis and much less than a transfer.
All of this of course is if you are leaving from the B St pier.
