Current Status of Seattle Monorail Service

Recommended Posts

The Seattle Monorail began service again on November 8, but will only allow 200 passengers per train, which is about half of its normal capacity, due to concerns about wear and tear (the trains are getting pretty old). The one-way fare is $2 per adult (age 12 and up), 75 cents for youths ages 5-12, and $1 for seniors/people with disabilities. Children 4 and under ride free. The monorail runs from 11AM to 7PM daily.

If you are looking for an alternative to the monorail, you can take bus #3 or #4. They stop along 3rd Avenue in downtown, then head over to 5th Avenue just south of Seattle Center and stop in the shadow of the monorail tracks right by EMP and the Space Needle. The bus is $1.25 off-peak, or $1.50 during rush hour, for adults. Youths age 6-17 are 50 cents each, and up to four children age 5 and under are free if accompanied by an adult.
