Car rental and parking in Halifax

We are planning to rent a car in Halifax and Saint John and are wondering about parking in Canada. Are there meters that we will need coins for etc. We are going to the Citadel and wonder if there is a parking lot there or street parking? Has anyone booked a car for these locations and gotten a good deal? We will be on the VOS on May 16 sailing. Thanks, I always get such good information from you all.

I live in Halifax and we are planning our first cruise in November on the Triumph in the Western Caribbean so I've been looking at these types of sites. To answer your question. There are numerous parking lots (for a small fee) and lots of metered parking, which takes Canadian coins. Citadel Hill has parking available. I'll be happy to answer any other questions you have.
