Excellence Hotel or Royal Hideaway- Riviera Maya

Has anyone stayed in the Excellence ( Secrets) Hotel or the Royal Hideaway? Any thoughts - I can not decided which one to book. Thanks

we spent a week at excellence riv. last june, it was awesome!!! from my understanding royal hideaway is definately a step above excellence (5 stars instead of 4/4.5 stars) but the price difference was more than we could afford so we booked at excellence, and were definately not dissapointed....food was good, drinks were perfect (top shelf available, and they dont skimp on the liquor), the grounds were gorgeous, and the spa was to die for! the week we were there they were booked to capacity yet the pools were always pleasantly empty (except the sports pool) and it was always nice and quiet:)
