RCCL or Celebrity

Since RCI owns and runs both lines - it is all about the money. The perks, upgrades and dining on Celebrity are diminishing. Having been on 3 of each line (as well as other cruiselines) I would no longer choose Celebrity over RCL unless it was priced less. So look at the itinerary and the special features for the specific ship in choosing where and when to cruise:p

EBJ,

My boyfriend and I are 26 and 25 respectively. We have also only cruise RCI in the past. I know we liked the games at the pool, and my boyfriend enjoyed playing basketball every day at sea. I can't think of one complaint we had with RCI. We leave for our first X cruise next week. I know we are also wondering about what types of activities there will be on board. We were also curious as to how many others closer to our age will be on board, especially with it being 11 days. Either way, it has all the ports we want to see and was the right price, so we are giving it a try. I will give you an update after we return at the end of the month!

Hello,

We have completed around 6 cruises on RCCL, but did our first with celebrity in September of last year which was a 10 night cruise in the Med on the Century. We found the staff to be excellant, however the entertainment and sporting activities were aimed at the 'older' cruiser. One afternoon there was a basketball competition which only 2 people showed up to and the member of staff taking the competition never had much 'get up and go' about her.

We have our next two cruises booked but we are back with RCCL on Monarch of the Seas then Navigator of the Seas when it comes to Europe this summer.

Hi,

Just back from panama cruise on the summitt, once again the food and service was excellent. But we are looking forward to a Royal Caribbean Cruise once more. Little disappointed on this cruise the ship seemed run down for its age, the only time we saw maintenance being done to the ship was on deck 4 on sea days sorry navigational days. People were trying to relax and all your heard were grinders and drills going all day. Lots of people complaining about this, cruise was catered to a 65+ age group but more than half were under 50. Lots of people complaining about lack of activities especially in the evenings. The nightly shows were boring, but a few were good shows out of the 14. But again this is only two families point of view, ever persons expectations are different. But based on our experiences we pick RCCL as they look after their repeat cruisers and new cruisers allot better.

When I cruise with my girlfriends we go on RCCL. When I go with my husband, we go on Celebrity. RCCL has a much more lively party atmosphere. The evening entertainment, the sing along bar, the casino - were all hopping late into the night on RCCL. My girlfriends LOVED it and woul just die of boredom on X. But, with my husband, I love the X treatment and definitely love the pampering. Because you guys specifically were concerned about activities, I would recommend RCCL - FOR SURE! (but I love X the best).
